A
natural disaster has occurred and you are responsible for raising funds that
will be used to: feed and clothe people, provide temporary housing and medical
supplies, purchase machinery for rebuilding, purchase ambulance, fire trucks,
etc.
Purpose: You live in another
country (outside of the U.S.A.) where a natural disaster occurred. You have
seen how the Red Cross aids victims of natural disasters. Your mission is to persuade people to donate
money for Disaster Relief efforts that you are planning. You will create a PowerPoint Presentation to
show at fundraising events. The PowerPoint
Presentation will give the audience a connection to the country and people
affected.
Getting Started:
Go to MS Encarta
‘99 and research a type of natural disaster such as Cyclone, Earthquake, Hurricane,
Tidal Wave or Tsunami.

with area affected by disaster designated by circle or highlighting.
Notes

climate
topography – water, mountains, plains, etc.
transportation access by: airplane, train, ship, etc.
Images of the type of disaster and it’s affects on the community
- Select images that represent the type of disaster, typical life in the country prior to the disaster
and photos of the devastation that occurred when the natural disaster struck.
