The Chance

Home Holly Lindsey Reflections

Going

Gone

Walking along

Holding on

Thinking strong

About what you missed:

The chance

Walk away

There'll be more days

But summer's coming soon

That's your personal doom

No required school

Just beach and pool

Sing to yourself to feel better

The words flow through your head

Live and strut and dance

You won't miss the chance

Again tomorrow

Perhaps you'll be strong

And not care what people think

Don't wait another week

The weeks are almost gone

June and July are so long

After next month,

There’s only one year left

Why?

Why is he so far away?

You may not see him

For the next four years

Or ever again

For that matter

Take the chance

It's your privilege

But why hasn't he, instead?

It's his privilege too,

You could just wait

But you've waited so long

It's not fair

But is he even worth

All the trouble you've gone to

And the humiliation you've put up with?

And thoughts you've shared

And dares you've dared

Is the chance even there?

Think again…think again.
